Kareem may be my first sports hero. 🤓
As a young boy, watching the Celtics-Lakers rivalry in the early 80s, I took to his sky hook and practiced it for countless hours in my backyard. It worked!
Years later, my admiration grew for the man behind the famous basketball move.
What struck me in his essay are the words “choking on the smoke as the flames burn closer and closer” – this is opportunity being snuffed out and taken away from you.
When you empower a person, you afford them opportunity.
The socioeconomic divide in America is real. It has been growing for decades, and it is unjust.
