A Helping Hand

A fellow colleague, professional mentor and good friend, Peter West, retired from the Energy Trust of Oregon in recent days. I would be remiss to not share some words here, as he was instrumental in affording me an opportunity in our industry.

A decade plus ago, the price of PV was much higher than it is today. Our initial work focused on providing finance solutions for people to pursue energy efficient and renewable energy project upgrades. This took form in Clean Energy Works Portland and GreenStreet Lending with Umpqua Bank.

The Power of Market Transformation

GreenStreet was the first of its kind, a retail lending program designed for homeowners and business owners. Today, the market has transformed and you see many of these programs afforded by banks and credit unions around the country.

Still, there is more work to do.

I learned a lot working with Peter, understanding the value of market transformation, the importance of social equity and access in renewables and resiliency, lots of that.

Yes, we did it.
